The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 is likely to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to scheduling conflicts arising from the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Initially planned for the February-March window, the PSL may now be rescheduled for March and April, coinciding with the IPL in India.
This overlap poses a significant challenge for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL franchises, as many star international cricketers prefer the more lucrative IPL contracts. To address this, several franchises have urged PCB to consider targeting IPL-unsold players for the next PSL edition.

Prominent names such as David Warner, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Keshav Maharaj, Kusal Mendis, and Daryl Mitchell are among those on the radar of the PSL teams. A source close to India Today has revealed, “The team owners want the PCB to talk to the agents and boards of these players and confirm their availability for PSL 2025.”
In a bid to enhance the PSL’s global appeal, the PCB is reportedly exploring hosting the 2025 Players’ Draft in a foreign country. Inspired by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which successfully hosted the IPL 2025 mega-auction in Jeddah, PCB is considering London and Dubai as potential venues. Discussions between PCB officials and franchise owners have taken place, but no final decision has been made yet.
“The franchise owners are in favour of having the players draft either in London or Dubai as they feel it would improve the brand image of the league,” a source said.
