
A feature-length documentary, Reignite: A Brisbane Heat Story, is all set to feature the team’s inspiring journey from average performances to them becoming champions of the KFC BBL|13.
Set to premiere next month, the 80-minute documentary film will also dive into Heat’s turnaround after parting ways with Lynn, the Big Bash League’s all-time top scorer, in May 2022. Notably, the split between both the parties came as the club sought a fresh start after missing finals in seven of the last nine seasons.

In the trailer released on Tuesday, Heat and Australia star Marnus Labuschagne reflected on the need for change in the squad. Labuschagne said, “Everything has an expiry date. Any fan gets tired when you’re not winning.”
The documentary also captured the rise of fresh Heat stars during BBL|12, including left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson, power-hitter Josh Brown, and emerging leader Nathan McSweeney, as they led the team from the last position on the points table to a thrilling runners-up finish.
Queensland players Usman Khawaja, Matthew Renshaw, and Michael Neser who also contributed to the Heat’s resurgence are also expected to feature in the documentary.

The documentary will dive into interviews with the club icons, Chris Lynn, former coach Wade , and current players such as Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, and Colin Munro, along with cricket legends Ian Healy and Andy Bichel.
Speaking on the documentary’s importance, Pete Lock, the Brisbane Heat’s marketing general manager said, “The individuals who made this story came from all walks of life… united by a common love for the game and a relentless desire to change the Heat’s fortunes. The way the players, coaches, and support staff were able to reignite the Heat… is a special story.”
‘Reignite’ will premiere on November 28 at Event Cinemas Chermside, followed by a limited release.
