The Capitals’ star wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is reportedly looking to enter the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction pool, parting ways with the Delhi-based team franchise. Notably, Pant has represented only one team in his IPL career and as per the sources he is now looking for a new home side. 

Previously, Delhi Capitals has undergone a major shift in their team management with the departure of the veteran Australian captain Ricky Ponting. With Sourav Ganguly being  appointed as the JSW group’s new Director of Cricket, big changes are expected to take place in the squad as well.

RCB, LSG and PBKS show interest in on-boarding Rishabh Pant : Sources 

As per the sources, renowned IPL team franchises like Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings have shown their interest in on-boarding Rishabh Pant in their squad. 

It is to be noted that previously the Delhi Capitals co-owner, Parth Jindal had hinted at a few names who would be considered for retention for the upcoming 18th season of the Indian Premier League. 

“Yes, we definitely have to retain. We have some very good players in our team. The rules have just come out, so after discussing with GMR and our director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly, decisions will be made,” Parth Jindal told IANS. 

Even though Parth Jindal in the same interview had confirmed that Pant will be retained in the team, the parties seem to have come to an agreement of Rishabh parting ways with the franchise. 

“Rishabh Pant will definitely be retained. We also have Axar Patel, who is excellent, Tristan Stubbs, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Kuldeep Yadav, Abishek Porel, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, all very good players in our team,” Jindal had previously said. 

With a pool of several star players, it will be interesting to see whom will Delhi Capitals retain with the retention deadline approaching.
