India’s stalwart left-arm pacer of the T20 World Cup 2024, Arshdeep Singh, may be heading to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The highly anticipated mega auction is set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Sources indicate that KKR are aiming for an all-Indian pace lineup, and have their eye on the 24-year-old bowler following his release from Punjab Kings.
Arshdeep had a stellar run in IPL 2024, finishing as Punjab Kings’ top wicket-taker with 19 wickets from 14 matches, which also placed him as joint-fifth among the season’s highest wicket-takers. He continued his remarkable form on the global stage, claiming 17 wickets in eight games during India’s victorious T20 World Cup campaign in the USA and Caribbean. Despite his consistent performance, Punjab Kings chose not to retain him, fueling speculation about his potential move to KKR.
IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Arshdeep Singh Likely on Kolkata Knight Riders’ Radar
Adding to the rumors, Arshdeep recently deleted most of his Instagram posts related to Punjab Kings, leaving only a few older pictures. This move has sparked discussions about his possible switch to KKR, where he could lead the pace attack alongside retained players Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, and Harshit Rana.
KKR’s strategy for the IPL 2025 season also reportedly includes targeting a Jos Buttler-type opener to complement Narine. Although they retained several key players, Phil Salt was released, leaving the door open for the franchise to re-evaluate its opening pair at the auction.
