IPL 2025 Retention List

The deadline to announce the retention for all the teams for the upcoming 18th season of the Indian Premier League is just round the corner and the fans are eagerly waiting to check out the players retained in each of their favorite IPL teams.

The BCCI and the IPL governing committee have announced a detailed set of guidelines to follow for player retention ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction.

One of the most significant guidelines for the IPL 2025 mega auction for the teams is the number of retentions permitted. All 10 IPL Teams can retain a maximum of six players from their previous squads, including the RTM Card. This is a significant increase from the previous mega auction where the teams were allowed a maximum of five retentions. This flexible policy includes a combination of both capped (max 5) and uncapped (max 2) players.

The return of the Right to Match (RTM) card allows the teams to get back their squad members whom they couldn’t retain directly.

It is to be noted that an uncapped player can be retained at INR 4 crores and this amount will be subtracted from the total purse for each team (INR 120 crores for IPL 2025). Meanwhile, The player retention amount for the 5 capped players will be valued as follows.
