Former India captain Mithali Raj has parted ways with Gujarat Giants after serving as the franchise’s mentor and advisor for two seasons, according to a Cricbuzz report. Mithali, who was initially signed on a three-year deal, ended her association after two seasons in which the team struggled, finishing at the bottom of the standings both times.
The decision follows Mithali’s recent appointment as Mentor and Consultant for Women’s Cricket Operations with the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). Her new role focuses on developing women’s cricket in Andhra Pradesh, prompting her early departure from Gujarat Giants.
Gujarat Giants Bowling coach Nooshin Al Khadeer steps down Ahead of WPL 2025 Auction
In another development, Giants’ bowling coach Nooshin Al Khadeer has also opted not to renew her two-year contract with the franchise. Nooshin, who played a pivotal role in shaping the team’s bowling strategies, is currently focused on her role as head coach of the India Under-19 Women’s team.
Despite these departures, head coach Michael Klinger and fielding coach Carl Hopkinson are expected to continue in their respective roles. The franchise plans to announce replacements for Mithali and Nooshin on Thursday (December 12), just three days before the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 Auction.
