The Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has taken a dig at former cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar following his comments about Shami’s potential price in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Shami, who missed the IPL 2024 season after suffering an ankle injury during the ODI World Cup 2023, was released by Gujarat Titans ahead of the upcoming mega auction. The injury also sidelined him from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Shami, a crucial player for Gujarat Titans since IPL 2022, was previously bought for ₹6.25 crore. In IPL 2022, he claimed 20 wickets in 16 matches, while his best season came in IPL 2023, with 28 wickets in 17 games at an average of 18.64.

Mohammed Shami mocks Sanjay Manjrekar for predicting a drop in his IPL 2025 auction price
Speaking on Star Sports, Manjrekar expressed concerns about Shami’s injury record impacting his auction value. “There will definitely be interest from teams, but given Shami’s injury history and this recent one took significant time to recover there’s always a concern about a potential breakdown during the season. This concern might lead to a drop in his price tag,” Manjrekar said.
Responding to the remarks, Shami took to Instagram to mock Manjrekar, posting, “Baba ki jay hoooo. Thoda sa gyan apne future ke liye bhi bacha loo kaam aayega Sanjay G? Kisi ko future janna ho to sir se mile (Hail Baba. Save some knowledge for your future too, it will be useful Sanjay ji? If anyone wants to know the future, then meet sir).”
As one of the marquee players in the IPL 2025 auction, all eyes will be on which team secures Shami for the upcoming IPL 2025 season.
